How to Use Pendulums

Pendulums are a great tool for divination as they can help anyone find answers and insight into a situation. This tool has long been cast aside because of its tendency to be at the mercy of the user's hand. There is certainly more to using a pendulum that this though. This blog post will tell you how to use a pendulum properly, and the pros and cons of pendulum use.

​Pendulums have been used as a divination tool for centuries. They are powerful, easy to use, extremely accurate and provide the user with concrete answers. Pendulums are predominately used to answer closed questions, with the answers most commonly given as a 'yes' or 'no'.

​I admit that I hardly ever use a pendulum to divine. My reason for this is simple: I usually like to receive more information on a situation than a simple 'yes' or 'no'. Life is made of black, white and many shades of grey. Pendulums tend to only look at the black and white of a situation, or the 'yes' and 'no' of life. For this reason I use them sparingly.  

Pendulums work by tapping into our subconcious mind and also by providing a means for our guides to communicate with us. ​As I mentioned at the top of this post, pendulums are at the mercy of the user's hand. They work through telekensis (moving objects with the mind) and can swing in a variety of ways according to what your subconcious mind is telling it to do. Because a pendulum is at the mercy of the user's hand it is important to never use a pendulum as a means to deceive someone. If you decide to conciously and physically move a pendulum with this intent they will never work for you in the future. Pendulums are a sacred item which need to be given the respect that they deserve.

​The other energies that cause a pendulum to move are that of our guides. Their messages, combined with our subconcious mind, help a pendulum to swing. Guides do find moving objects to be exhausting work though, and this is another reason why I choose to use them saringly.

​Prior to starting any pendulum work you'll need to ground yourself, pray and be focused. This is imperitive to a great pendulum reading. Banning negative influences and any beings or energies other than that of your guides is important. This is why praying for protection and guidance from your select group of guides is needed.

​Pendulums can move clockwise, anti-clockwise, back and forth, or stay still. Depending on how you charge your pendulum you'll soon find out which motion is the answer to your 'yes' or 'no' questions. After I have done my grounding and prayer work I ask my guides and the pendulum to show me the answer for 'yes' and the answer for 'no' prior to asking a specific question which I want to know the answer to. Usually my pendulums swing clockwise for 'yes' and anti-clockwise for 'no'. Yours might choose to swing differently. If i'm not meant to know the answer to a question, it will usually swing in all sorts of crazy directions or will stay motionless. Your pendulum will move according to its own energy.

​There are many items which can be used as a pendulum. I use a royal aura quartz crystal on a necklace chain. Other people use specifically made pedulums, and you can even use a ring on the end of a necklace or anything else you wish. There is no wrong or right object to use as a pendulum, as long as it works for you.

​The most common use of a pendulum is when you'd like to find out the gender of an unborn baby. You can ask a pendulum to move clockwise to tell you its a girl or anti-clockwise if it's a boy, or vice versa. Remember to use a closed question which has only two answers possible when using your pendulum.
