The Importance of the Root Chakra in Psychic Development

The Root Chakra is so often overlooked even though it is such a powerful energy centre. Here is why it is one, if not the most, important chakras to focus on when you're developing your psychic abilities. 

As humans, we naturally try to jump ahead with our learning and attempt to pursue advanced knowledge before we have laid the foundations of that learning. The same goes for psychic development and I see it time and time again where people try to jump ahead before taking the most basic of steps in their development.

In psychic development having a solid foundation of learning is an absolute must as it helps to protect you against lower vibrational energies, creates a positive experience of the spirit world and brings long-lasting strength to your abilities. But, most importantly, it helps to develop your abilities properly.

When learning about the chakras and psychic abilities, many of us automatically jump straight to the third eye and crown chakra to enhance our intuition and develop our psychic abilities. Yes, they are the centres of intuition, seeing and knowing, but they also require the other chakras to work to their best ability.

This is where the root chakra comes into play. As with all the lower chakras, it is one of the most under-considered chakras in psychic development. The root chakra is the foundation of our energy and without it, our other chakras would have no earth energy running through them.

The root chakra is the crown chakra’s opposite; it’s shadow chakra. It brings grounding, protection, stability and security to our being. When our root chakra is imbalanced or blocked we leave ourselves open to psychic attack, live solely up in the spirit world (which is the crown chakra’s territory) and lose our sense of reality. All of these make psychic development near impossible which is why the root chakra is so important.

Psychic attack in itself can take a long time to come back from and is one of the main reasons why some psychics can’t continue their work beyond a few years. Psychic attacks can cause our guides to shut down our natural abilities to protect us which stops other negative or lower vibrational energies from entering our field. What it also does is stops us from receiving any messages from the spirit world.

When we create an imbalance in our chakra system by causing our third eye and crown chakra to be overactive, and our root chakra to be underactive for lack of attention, this can cause an inability to interpret messages given to us from spirit. It is similar to a language translator being able to hear what is being said but being unable to talk to translate the message. The same goes for psychic readings and development. If you have no backing from a strengthened root chakra then the messages that the crown chakra gives us are near impossible to understand.

Lastly, with an imbalanced or blocked root chakra, we have nothing to hold us to the earth and the reality that is the physical world. This is not only dangerous to our minds but it means that we can’t help ourselves or others if we don’t understand what is or isn't physically in front of us.

If you are looking to develop your natural psychic abilities then I highly recommend starting with the root chakra. Black crystals such as black obsidian and black tourmaline help to heal and strengthen it as does eating root vegetables. Also, being out in nature and placing our bare feet on the earth is one of the best methods of healing and balancing for the root chakra.
