Diamonds have become a token of love through the use of them in wedding and engagement rings. As a crystal, there is far more to back up their love connection that what you may think. But, they also come with a warning. Diamonds have long been valued for their beauty and radiance. They are the crystal of choice for most engagement rings and wedding rings, as their durability is unmatched by any other stone. Regardless of whether the diamond is clear, yellow, pink, blue or green, they all hold the same qualities and meaning due to their structure. Diamonds have a hardness value of 10, and they are the hardest of all substances, which in turn backs up their meaning of stability and strength. Diamonds help to make a marriage stable and to connect two people together on a spiritual level. Both core values of any marriage of course. On the flip side, diamonds are best described as ‘intense’. They magnify the effects of other crystals and intensify our emotions. This intensity of emotions can bring an intensity to the love that two people have for each other, but it can also bring intensity to every other emotion there is including anger, moodiness, jealousy and fear. So, does it make it the best crystal of choice for an engagement or wedding ring? Probably not. But, if you are the keeper of a diamond ring I’d advise that you put it back in the jewellery box for a while if emotions are running high. Because diamonds govern the upper chakras, including the heart, third eye, crown and etheric chakra, it can be quite an ungrounding crystal. This only adds to the flighty mood behaviour in some people if they wear daimonds daily. If you are an air sign (Gemini, Libra or Aquarius) then diamonds aren’t your best crystal of choice, whether it is used in a wedding ring or not. If you do have a good grounding on your lower chakras then diamonds can be a true blessing. The intensity that diamonds bring to our emotions can help grounded souls to burn through any old emotional issues, open our auric bodies up to others and our guides, and accelerate one’s soul evolution. This can lead us down a path where psychic abilities are easier to access and where our goals and dreams can manifest. Diamonds also have a rare crystal ability (like apophyllite) of allowing its wearer to enter visionary states. This makes them perfect for meditation. They are transducers which make high-vibrational energies and spirits easier to access and communicate with too. When paired with other high-vibrational crystals such as moldavite or super seven, then their power is unmatched. So, I’m not sure that diamonds are best suited to wedding and engagement rings as they aren’t a ‘couples’ stone. Diamonds would go nicely on a single person who wishes to grow their self-love though. If you’re getting engaged or married and still can’t pass up on a diamond ring then my advice would be to make sure that it is charged with positive energy and cleansed prior to you wearing it. A good marriage is based on a strong solid foundation and core (like a diamond) but, it can crack under pressure if a diamond is allowed to intensify any rouge or negative emotions.

My partner and I want to get married in the next couple of years. We aren't engaged yet and I wonder therefore what a suitable engagement ring for me might be. I'm a Taurus.
