A short post on Lilith: one of the most undervalued placements in astrology.
To understand certain components of astrology it is best to look into the history of these components. This is especially true for Lilith, whose importance is very often overlooked or ignored in a natal birth chart.
What makes us who we are is a combination of both ‘good’ traits and ‘bad’ traits, plus everything in between. Lilith (also known as Black Moon Lilith if we’re talking about True Lilith) has long been considered a ‘bad’ placement as its energy can sometimes produce actions that are based on anger.
The position of Lilith in our natal birth chart refers to the shadowed/dark side of the moon which represents emotions and intuition that hasn’t been ‘tamed’ as yet…also known as the shadow side of ourselves. So, Lilith placements actually show us our rebellious nature and the side of us that doesn’t care what anyone else thinks, least of all society. Think of Lilith as a powerful wild child that is neither good nor bad but just acting out because of their anger or curiosity.
The name Lilith is strewn throughout various religions. Lilith is most commonly known as the first wife of Adam. She was just as powerful as Adam himself as she wasn’t made from Adam’s rib like Eve was, but of the same earth that Adam was made of. So, she considered herself to be superior to Adam and wouldn’t be submissive, dominated over or sexually restrained with him.
As a natal birth chart placement, Lilith shows us where immense power lies within us and how we react when we are crossed. Spitefulness, vengeance, ire and excess all come from our Lilith placement. When our emotions are hurt this untamed shadow side of the moon turns to anger since we can’t comprehend why someone else has hurt us.
Embracing your Lilith placement brings a sense of freedom. Although, it does take time to rewire yourself to live out these expectations of yourself rather than those of society. This is not to say that you should start breaking the law, incorporating excess into your life or hurting others, but learning to forget these social norms and stand in your power would bring huge gains to your understanding of yourself.
